1. Where is the Text block located?
The Text widget can be found within your editing studio, in the Tasks category.
2. How to use a Text block in my Ermeo form?
You can set a default text. The default text can be either modifiable or non-modifiable by the operator, allowing you to define a predefined string. If you want the operator to be able to modify this default text, you need to enable the "Allow default value modification" option.
You can also link this block to a Text-type attribute.
Context: Imagine a company conducting building inspections and reporting anomalies. The operator must describe the anomaly they encounter on-site. Therefore, you should use the Text block within a Creation block.
- Drag and drop the Creation block into your form. Name it "Anomaly Creation." In the settings, choose the Anomalies database.
- Within the Creation block, drag and drop a Text block. Name this block "Description." Link this block to the "Anomaly Description" attribute.
- Publish your form. Launch an intervention using this form from the web app or the mobile app.
Note
The "Long Text" option allows you to enter longer text within this task. If the Text block is linked to a Text attribute that has the "Long Text" option enabled, then this option will be automatically activated for the block in the editing studio. The number of characters that can be entered is virtually unlimited.
Limitation
There is currently no "Short Text" option available. It is also not possible to enforce a specific input format (e.g., lowercase letters or numbers only).
